FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about KIRA EX Hand Lamps

Which Ex-zones are KIRA EX hand lamps suitable for?
All KIRA EX hand lamps, such as the KE-LED-EX series, are certified for gas zones 1 and 2 as well as dust zones 21 and 22, and they meet the requirements of the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.
What does the IP68 protection rating mean?
IP68 guarantees complete dust tightness and protection against continuous immersion. This makes the luminaires ideal for use in tanks, silos, or sewers where conditions are wet and dirty.
Are the lamps suitable for fire departments or disaster relief?
Yes. Thanks to their robust construction with impact-resistant tubes and neoprene handles, as well as their Ex-certification, they meet the high requirements of emergency services in hazardous areas.
Which voltage variants are available?
KIRA offers luminaires for 230V, 110V, 42V, 24V, and 12V. The 24V safety extra-low voltage is particularly relevant for safety when working in confined spaces such as containers.
Are there models with 360° illumination?
Yes, for example, the KE-LED-EX 5018 features an omnidirectional design. This prevents cast shadows and ensures the entire work area is evenly illuminated – which is especially important for tank inspections.
Are the luminaires corded or battery-powered?
Both options are available. Corded models provide unlimited operating time, while battery-powered searchlights like the AccuLux EX SLE 15 offer maximum freedom of movement.
Is there a protective film, and can it be replaced?
An optional protective film is available for many models, shielding the polycarbonate protective tube from contamination (e.g., paint or resins). it can be easily replaced to maintain light output over time.
What cable lengths are available as standard?
Supply lines range from 5 m to 50 m in 5-meter increments. For custom lengths, please contact KIRA support for individual solutions.
